Fast Idling

This time I'm asking about my recently acquired Beta Coupe 2000, 1980 Carb version. Took it for a decent run yesterday. Surprised how different it was to the Spyder. Seemed somehow smoother, but I much prefer the Momo steering wheel I've got on the Spyder to the standard wheel on the Coupe. Anyway, it's idling very fast, started at about 1800 rpm, after 30 miles closer to 2000 rpm. Is this likely to be the auto choke, or what else should I look for. Once again the invaluable input from you guys would be of great assistance.

You can adjust the throttle stop on the lever fairly easily. Otherwise it could be the idle mixture, again fairly easily done. It's the screw in the recess at the base of the carburettor. Did the previous owner set the idle high to mask a stalling problem?

Also worth checking that the manifold gaskets are not leaking in air to the post carb mixture?

Thanks Neil, I'll check it out, but not today. Loads of harvesting locally and the air is thick with those tiny little thrips that get into your hair, clothing, everywhere. Aah the joys of the countryside in summer!!,
