ZC90 is the original sync ring friendly Fiat spec and is actually a 80w/90 Mineral based Gear Oil. It is fine but these days Redline 75w/90 NS is better from cold shift to being thrashed hot in race cars like Geoff Ward's racing Montecarlo and my road going 200BHP one. However it is more important to change it at all and so many boxes are full of black/brown carbon sludge I can recommend using ZC90 for 1000 miles and draining it hot to clean the box up before fitting the Redline. If you can remove the diff cover and end cover and physically clean including the crud catcher in the diff casing even better. I have parts from 7 boxes in the workshop currently so I have seen plenty of rank old gearoil!
So if you have no idea when your gearoil was last changed, but the pennys are tight buy some ZC90 and find out how good these boxes can be without sludge and swarf. NB often the oil looks golden on the dipstick with the sludge below.

Building a hybrid Montecarlo/ Beta 2000/VX gearbox right now to lose the Monte low first gear, retain the higher MC final drive and use the stronger VX secondary shaft and later needle roller gears throughout. This is for my 187BHP engine.
