Leather steering wheel
« on: May 01, 2025, 10:21:49 AM »
I am looking to replace the std non leather steering wheel with something a bit more tactile.  There is a std Vx leather wheel on eBay but the guy will not answer any questions on sending by post or even can I collect so not sure whats going on here.

Option 2 is a Momo wheel, do people out there have a view on the design, dish or size, also a recommended place to buy?  Any experience would be appreciated.

Hi Mark,
I used Demon Tweeks for a Classic Momo, then you’ll need Ricambio for the a mounting boss. If I were buying again I’d probably prefer a little more dish in the wheel, but otherwise I love this solution.

I might have a VX wheel that would possibly buff up ok however if you want something that looks the part I'd suggest the style of wheel off Delta turbos or similar

@rosacorsa thanks for the reply.  If you have any photos of your wheel send them over.  I am interested.  I dont want to rush into a Momo style wheel.  Good point on the Delta wheel and yes a bit more dish would be good.  Thanks again.

Hi,
I have an original VX wheel which is in fairly poor condition, it'll need
some attention to remove the nicks and scratches.

I'm pretty sure thats a Momo Prototypo which is what I have .  It's a good feeling thing with just enough dish the boss adaptor lao has the effect of bringing it slightly closer to you. An integrale wheel also works well, I think it's the same bolt pattern as Momo wheels as it was alamost certainly made by them in the first place.

Here is the spare VX one, this is straight out of the garage not even dusted. It will probably buff up fairly well.

I've fitted the Luisi Mistral wheel and boss kit to my coupé and it's transformed the way the car feels and inspires greater confidence in the corners over the standard wheel.

The diameter is 380mm. The wheel is very slightly dished rather than flat. I went for this one after being seriously impressed with the Luisi wheel fitted to Kevin Sproul's AlItalia Rally Beta Coupé. Luisi wheels are significantly easier on the wallet than Nardi.

Those wheels are really nice, not leather but amazing vfm.

Side note “Kevin Sproul's AlItalia Rally Beta Coupé‘, do you have links to pictures or something.  I searched for it but couldnt find anything?

I think they are available in non-leather, but I opted for the leather option as it'll age better over time. I thought I had taken a photo of Kevin's wheel, but checked back and I hadn't - sorry about that!
