My Beta Spyder 828 BS1/1 003684, according to the DVLA was first registered March 1979. As the new tax exemption rules apply from year of manufacture, is there any possibility it was manufactured late 1978. If so, how do I prove it ?

I have been thinking the same, mine being registered 1977 but being told it's a 1976 colour. I want to be sure its exempt next year.
I think the news is bad though on Beta build records, so may be stuck with DVLA dates.

Alan (Rossocorsa) now has a pretty complete record I think. If he gives you a date and you are an LMC member, DVLA will then accept a letter from Barbara Longlands.

Although they probably exist somewhere there are no records pre 78 for Betas the only known document had the last two pages missing which would include beta up to 77 :-(

The records are a bit erratic on the zagato built cars but looks to have been built September 1978, in any event definitely 1978

Feared as much- it was probably you who told me in the first place!

Mine was 1st regged in June 1979, is that likely to be a 78 built car?
-
Could be, they often took a while to sell and I suspect stock rotation wasn't good, some 79 coupes were first reg as late as 81!
