Afternoon,
Delta Recaro's in a Beta, anyone done it? They look similar
-
The VX Recaro in the Coupe are near identical. It wouldn't be a difficult job.
-
I think the answer is that they should, at least the ones in early cars, but they are configured for 4 doors so I don't think that they tip up to access the rear seats
-
Ha! I didnt realise that.
-
I recently fitted 2 Recaros from a VX into my HPE.
During my research to find a couple of missing plastic parts I realised
that the seats I had were very similar, if not identical, to period Fords.
The sliding mechanism varies but the seat frame remains the same. And
you're more likely to find a pair that tilt for rear access.
In any acquisition, the sliders will be suspect. I used replacements from
eBay, and had a good outcome. Always select the double catch type.
I had to make custom brackets to increase the width, but you'd likely
have to do that anyway.

@nigel, what do you mean by ‘double catch’?
That is excellent thank you Nigel
-
The type with a lock on each slider, not just
on one.
-
There were a couple of other cars in the 80s that were adorned with similar Recaro seats that had the flip forward mechanism needed for back seat access. I think 3 door Vauxhall Astra GTE, maybe Calibra and a couple of Fords. But they are quite sort after and of course will need re-trimming to suit.
Cheers

I was given a pair of Integrale Recaros for my Beta Coupe. They were too wide and the tracks would have been a faff to make fit so I gave them back.
There are still VX Recaros out there if this is what you want.
-
ideally. eBay I guess? I had a pair in my old HPE BitD. I am in no rush, but would be good to bag some for a future project
-
Morning, I am off to see some old Beta Recaro's later this morning. I there a way of telling I am looking at the right seats?
-
They were originally only upholstered in the grey check fabric with zegna fabric tabs to the rear and they should have a tipping mechanism for the back rest. Beyond that really I dont know if they've been reupholstered it might be difficult to know for sure
-
Bought them. One seat is pretty rough, tbh I was more interested in the material. 9m x 1.3m of from Italy. He showed me the receipt, £900 a long time ago. They will go in the loft until I can afford to think about recovering. Pretty pleased though.
-
I saw those for sale somewhere online, they looked a potentially good buy. That material has been reproduced in the last few years but is still pricey. 9 metres should be enough to do all the seats front and rear. Even if you found any rear VX seats you'll probably find that the fabric will have faded substantially although they are usually in good condition as they are rarely sat on. I have 7 metres of original cloth stashed myself for future use. Did you get the runners with the seats?
-
yes.
I know its no Vx, but I had Recaro's in my HPE BitD, and want that same look and feel. I think the blue will contrast well with the Maroon paint. Wheels need to change one day.
-
Good, I have one side I think of you didn't. I have a big collection of shims, if you need any specific sizes when you do the job I can see what I've got.
-
shims for the seat mounts?
-
shims for the seat mounts?
No I meant tappet shims, sorry mixing up two subjects!
-
I did think you were meaning this but thought I would check. Noted and thanks very much
