Title: Another Which Pump Question
Post by: SanRemo78 on June 19, 2025, 08:36:41 PM
The pump that's been recommended on other threads is a Huco one, mounted in the engine bay, relay controlled etc etc. Whilst this is obviously fine for the DATR carburettor will it be able to cope with a pair of Twin 40 dell'Orto carbs or should I be looking at something else?

Cheers

Guy,
I would pose that question to Fast Road Cars who probably
know more about that pump.

The Huco pumps are very low pressure  - 4.5psi for the tamk mounted 2.2psi for the underbonnet ones. That's a bit marginal by the time it gets to the carb.  It's not recommended to use a tank mount one under the bonnet as they have very little draw.

Thanks Nigel. Recommendation is for a Facet Silver Top and an 85mm Filter King.

Time will tell if it’s right or not!

I don't know whether it was my poor installation or a bad pump,
but I fitted a Facet initially (not sure of type) and found it very noisy.

If I ever need to re-visit the pump, I'll probably go
for an in-line barrel-shaped Bosch type unit, similar to what's fitted
at the factory on ie/vx versions.
