Title: Beta's near me (KT7)?
Post by: Ferrit on July 13, 2025, 10:26:19 PM
Anyone own a Beta near KT7, or know of one?

It would be handy to check out another car sometimes.

Theo is Enfield way and I think Eric is High Wycombe  - there are bound to be others.

KT 7 is Kingston On Thames so closer to John Followell who is Reading area. I am outside Aylesbury in Waddesdon these days.

I'm GU14 (Farnborough) but with bit of planning I could take my 1981 1600 Coupe to my work which is in Ripley, Surrey GU23 just off the A3.

Always up for meeting others.

Fyi there is a classic car dealer just outside Henley who opens once a month on Sundays. Good coffee shop, informal and a mixture of cars turn up

That sounds a plan John.  Just need to get it running first.

Tony, Mark and any one else local... I had Auto Integrale get my car through the MOT and they've transformed how the gear change feels. So feeling a bit more confident to extend the range beyond 10m from home.

So if you're up for a coffee, cake and chat while the weather holds I'd be up for it.

That will be a nice little run to Ripley through the lanes.  John we need to find a good pub between us all?  I am away for a couple weeks now, but have the later half of August and most of September to have some fun finally.

If I get time tonight after some gardening I am going to try changing the plugs and dist cap and rotor arm.  Next is a run to the fuel station, and then get it warm locally and change the oils and filters and then the coolant again.

The direct route Reading to KT7/8 centres on Virginia Water. Slightly north would be Old Windsor and there's the Toby Carvery for an all-you-can-eat breakfast, or the Windsor Farm Cafe on the Royal estate. Tony, I know that is slightly selfish from my perspective but if memory serves me right, I'd have confidence you are more mobile that the rest of us . .

Last 2 weekends in August / early Sept suit me too

No sweat.  Breakfast sounds brilliant and happy to take a day off.  I will PM my number across.  I do want to service the engine and replace some parts in the brake system before I do this, and rain is not helping (no garage until Oct and then it will be too small to work in), plus I am now on holiday for a couple weeks.

This would be amazing to do, and hopefully not too big a first'ish run for the car.  I got to drive it around the block on Sunday evening :-)

Me too.  I just need a few more tasks to do on the car.  Hopefully done by the end of August.  I am away now, and again first week in September.

I will check that Brooklands date.  I would love to do this.  So you just email them with your car details as a static display (in my case), its really close to home?

almost there.  I need to make a new brake pipe (short one down to the front n/s hose, but other than that its ready to go.  A few items will need revisiting again, but will do for the time being.  Missed todays deadline but should make Brooklands next week

I made it.  Brakes are better but after trying someone else Beta peddle another bleed sometime soon.

What a great bunch of Lancia People :-)

Apologies, I am still not proper roadworthy.

Rear suspension apart again (this will be the third time), to try and sort out the rear shocks, this week.  New tyres also going on Friday.  I am thinking I can drive it until the salt comes so maybe later this month for a coffee and cake somewhere.
