Title: Beta Spider 2000 cc Engine Number Location
Post by: SimonP on July 28, 2025, 11:58:03 AM
Hi All,

My recently purchased 1975 Beta Spider originally had a 1600 engine and this remains on the V5c, however when the restoration took place in Italy in 2018, the engine was relaced by a later 2000 cc Lampredi unit.

I now want to register the car with the correct engine and would like to know where the engine number is located please.

Thanks in advance.

On a monte 2lt, it's rear top left (i.e gearbox / exhaust manifold top corner) - there's a vertical machined flat section about 1"x2" in old money - the serial number is also vertical, likely on 2 lines.  It's PITA to read even when you can see it, a mirror may be handy or better still a mobile phone camera :)

Hi Simon

This photo should help.

It should start 828 if a Beta block.
