Hi guys! New here. This is my HPE. Brought it home to Sweden from Italy this spring. Been standing +35 years (indoor, dry, workshop). 46500 kms since new. :D

That looks a nice one.
Any thoughts on the work it needs? I guess if it’s been in a warm part of the world it could be just the standard items like brakes and rubber items etc?

Well, at this point it doesn't need so much. I bought it last October, but since it had been standing in an old Alfa Workshop (?!) for so long, I knew it would take some work to get it driveable. I bought it through a friend/business owner that deals in car accessories. He knew the daughter of the original owner. Anyhow - long story short - I thougt the coolest thing to do was to try and drive it home, so I gave my contact the mission to give it a good service. The basics like fluids, brakes, cambelt, plugs of course, and whatever might show up along the way... . So after a winter of constant communication about what to change and not, the car had gotten a new waterpump, oilpump, fuelpump, ignitioncables, the calipers were rebuilt, carb rebuilt, etc etc. - but then the car went through MOT/inspection in Italy with nothing but nice words and we figured it would be ready for the jouney home. So in April a friend and me took a flight to Milano and then - after visiting the old workshop and seeing the surroundings that the HPE spent it's entire lfe in - we drove it home. Didn't miss a beat. 2260 kms in 2,5 days. Pics - me by Lake Como, next pic at home in Sweden almost 3 days later. Great car!

Did you drive it home without any number plates on it? When I looked at buying a car in Italy the hardest things were getting insurance for it to be able to drive it home!

To get the export documents, you need to leave the italian plates to the authorities. (unfortunately - love those old black plates, but I have replicas of them now). In that process, they then provide you with a temporary cardboardplate, as might be seen in pic below, in the rear window. This whole process took about 5 days, so not so bad.
No plate in front. We did not get stopped at any border to explain this, which almost surprised us a bit. Most Swedish insurance companies offer a temporary insurance for import. Cost about 3000 Swedish kronor, which means around £250. 1 month, full insurance, registred to the vinnumber.

What a trip, and what a great story. Sounds like your car is in great condition and needed similar work as mine. If I was doing it again I would do the same as you and buy a left hooker from a warm part of Italy.
