Hello friends. We were at a small classic car event at Corfe Castle this weekend at saw these unusual Fiat spanners. I have no idea what they are or do but I bought them out of interest.
Googled the part numbers, but very little info comes up.
I suspect that maybe they might be for difficult to reach head bolts on an older Fiat or Lancia engine? Maybe a SOHC?
Can anyone enlighten me?
Part numbers are:
FIAT-SAT-A 50131/1
FIAT-SAT-A 50131/2 (a matched pair)
FIAT-SAT-A 50145 ?
19mm on one end or a star shape on the other.
The matched pair connect via a 1/2” socket drive.
Thank you.

The larger one is a head bolt reach around - Lancia had a similar one 88011026 for getting to head bolts without removing the top water rail.

They are generally for reaching awkward nuts and bolts, I can check what they are specifically for when I have time and if I remember! They are theoretically useful but I tend to find why this sort of thing that I only remember that I might have one after I've actually done the job. Or I can't find the tool I want in my pile of stuff. There's a good chance that they are suitable for Betas

Thank you. I suspected that and they might be useful? Any more definitive information would be great. 👍

They're for re-torquing SOHC cylinder heads, e.g. 128, X1/9 etc, specifically for the M12 bolt/stud engines that had 19mm heads. These were typically for cars before 1982, after which they moved on to M10 TTY bolts and Astadur gaskets which, theoretically, didn't need re-torquing. The extension pieces are offset so as to access the head bolts around the cam tower while still maintaining true torque leverage. You could take the cam tower off, but that would mean replacing the cam belt as well, potentially a different cam housing gasket and the need to re-shim too. I think all SOHC Delta's were the M10 TTY variety so these wouldn't apply. Let me know if ever sell as they're a bit of a collectors piece :)

ICS 19 Thank you for your detailed reply. Are these something that would be of interest to you if I were to sell them? If so please contact me.

OK, thanks. Should of added, the later M10 bolts had smaller 17mm heads ::)
