Hi Guys,
Can anyone send me a pic of what the body of the wiper stalk looks like at the point where the stalk itself fits into the body ( arrowed ).
I was sent a broken trafficator to fix with a 3D printed part and have modelled the new part from the body of the wiper stalk but it had previously been "fixed" by someone and can't see what it should look like.
In the interim, I have made it square as this is the strongest solution and matches the same on the other stalks but have a feeling it should be tapered ?
This is a series 1/2 trafficator with the triangular stalk top. I am also interested to see what a series 3/4 stalk looks like at this point where it is inserted into the body.
I am pretty sure the wiper body is the same across all series but the design of the stalk top varies.
Cheers,
Steve

I can send you pictures of the newer item. If you need more I have sent you a DM

Thanks Mark, this is what I needed to see to make a later stalk. Just need a pic of what the earlier stalk looks like, if it is any different.
when you have a dull moment, any chance you could measure the length of the just metal stalk itself ftom where is exits the body to where it enters the end cap ?
Not seen the DM you mentioned in your post.
Cheers,
Steve

Hi Steve
I will take a photo tomorrow for you as have an early one waiting to be fitted to the HPE

Just incidentally.....
Your wiper stalk is showing signs of plastic fatigue and could be a failure waiting to happen (see circled below)
When dismantling the old S2 trafficator I managed to further break the already damaged wiper body and snapped off one arm. Just goes to show that these things are old, fragile and don't tolerate being dismantled too well.

Have re-shaped the top of the body and it looks pretty good to suit S3/4. I could sand and spray to re-finish but not sure it is worth the effort considering only a little bit is showing once the cowling is on. I like the idea that the part is "straight off the printer".
Works perfectly.

I hope not its brand new. I will take a closer look tomorrow

Hi Steve
I emailed photos, hope you received them.

Thanks Peter, appreciated. The photos establish that the wiper body of the early trafficator is the same as the later type.

I spent a good hour struggling to re-assemble the indicator mechanism on the trafficator on which I had previously fixed the wiper stalk.
I had 2 collars left over that I just could not work out where they went and it was driving me nuts. Strangely, if I left these items out and re-assembled the unit, the indicator moved correctly, stayed in the on position and the cancel mechanism worked perfetly.
The following day, in daylight, I noticed that the indicator stalk end was brown and the other 2 stalks ends were black. Seems a PO must have yherefore changed out the indicator stalk and carelessly left the collars from the old one rattling arround inside the case.
Anyway, when did the triangular stalk ends change on the beta ?
Brown triangular ===> Black triangular ===> black cylindrical
......or are the black triangular ones from a Gamma ?
Cheers,
Steve

Hi Steve
The brown are from the matching brown dash of the pre facelift cars. Did not realise they had black, but I do not know what the saloon had? The black facelift cars have the later stalks with the cylindrical ones.

Interestingly I have just looked at my old set, my new one and and the stock photo from the supplier and they all look the same. That bottom right point seems to be cut down

Hey Mark, my apologies.....
It seems that I am therefore dealing with a mystery trafficator with black stalk ends. I am gonna guess at Gamma but why would the wiper stalk body be different
the pic is the broken body from the "Gamma" trafficator...clearly different but probably functionally the same ?

I bet the Beta one is slightly cut down for clearance purposes?
