Is it safe to use a fuel injection cleaner additive in the fuel tank to clean the injectors ?
-
I'm always sceptical of stuff like this. I doubt it would do any harm,
equally I doubt it would do much good.
I always use premium fuel in both my vehicles, 99 octane,
and in the case of my Mazda, i've never had any issues such as yours.
My Beta is not an IE but runs really well on the good stuff. Also worth mentioning
is the ethanol content but I don't know if that has a detrimental effect on injectors.
Here, our premium fuel is E5,lower than the standard fuel's E10. Your region may vary on that.

Highest octane level here is 93.

Just to say I think there may be 2 ways of measuring octane
Europe uses the Research Octane Number (RON), while the US uses the Anti-Knock Index (AKI), resulting in a 4-5 point difference.
So you have European 97!!

Excellent point Tim. I hadn't considered that.
