Is there a fuel filter bracket?
I believe mine is missing.
-
Joe,
Yes. The standard aluminium-cased filter has a circular bracket with
one M6 bolt and nut securing it to the rear crossmember near the fuel pump.

What does it look like and can they be sourced anywhere?
-
As far as I know fuel filters at the tank were only fitted to fuel injection cars?
-
Yes mine is fuel injected

As Alan's pic, it wraps around the filter and uses one fixing.
I suggest it not critical to use the factory clamp, a couple of strong zip ties to
something solid would be adequate.

That graphic explains soo many Beta break downs. A precision high pressure pump with the filter AFTER the pump is madness given the crud Beta tanks grow. A pump pre filter will still need to be inspected cleaned or replaced when clogged with dirt from the tank but the pump lives another day. A filter after the pump protects the injectors upstream from wear metal created by a dying pump.
Tank removal and cleaning should be on every Beta owners list of jobs and near the top.

I'm glad you highlighted that Eric.
The design wasn't good when new, even less so now.
Joe, 2 filters, before and after the pump!

That’s what I did. Installed one before the pump.
I’m just interested in sourcing a bracket for the one after the pump.

As an example, I made this to fit the filter I found. It's similar
in concept to the factory original but of a different diameter.
There are many filters of different sizes available. Perhaps you
could have one made by a metal shop in your area?
Make it slightly larger than the filter and use some thin foam strip inside to
pack it out.
Hope this helps.

I find the filter Im using is too big for that area. What filter are you using?
-
I used a WIX WF8101. There are numerous equivalents listed on google.
It's got a pair of decent barbs to retain the hoses and clamps.
It's about 55mm diameter and 80mm long, not incl the pipes.

Jumping on this thread as I am trying to sort out fuel pump and filter system for my coupe VX.
The tank has 12mm outlet and fuel pump has 12mm inlet so I need an intermediary pre pump filter with 12mm in/out. The Wix you proposed is 8mm or am I missing something. As Eric says it is important to have a pre pump filter. I seem to remember fitting such to a 2000HF a few years ago as Bosch 0450905005 with suitable tails (not a cheap filter set up....)
Thinking more - I fitted a Sytec Motorsport pre filter with 12mm tails to a TR6 PI upgrade

Any other pre pump filter options out there?

You can get universal pre pump filters where you can change the inlet and outlets unions to suit. Check out performance parts suppliers I can't remember where mine came from unfortunately
This but I think I parts a lot less than that, https://ebay.us/m/ytcwCn so have a good search
-
This what the Sytec one is and also the Bosch (comes with threaded boss to put tails on).
-
Hi Tim,
You're right, that suggestion won't suit everyone.
So long as it's designed for high pressure FI systems i.e. metal,
I don't believe it would matter which one you choose.
When I told which filter I used I forgot that my tank is custom-made, and my
pump is in the engine bay.

A pre filter does not hve to cope with hi pressure just flow hence 12mm tails???
-
Tim you try this one, available with 12mm tails https://www.merlinmotorsport.co.uk/p/sytec-motorsport-hi-flow-fuel-filter-with-push-on-tails-ssfm00

Glencoe are the importer/distributer of the Sytec kit including filters with removable/ replaceable filters and your choice of end fittings. In this case 12mm each end. https://www.glencoeltd.co.uk/
I use one of their drum filters as a pre filter for the high pressure pump on my Supercharged Montecarlo. It is large enough to ensure the necessary flow from my swirl pot to the pump and simple enough to service for me with AN8 Goodrich hoses. Ethanol resistant push on hose will be fine for your set up.
