Title: rear window heater Beta Berlina 2000 1979.
Post by: Don Pedro on April 22, 2026, 10:42:34 AM
How is the exact working of the rear window heater switch? When switching on the ignition (no start) it is ready to work or only by running the car?

Should work just on the ignition?

I agree with Neil.
Remember that with the engine running it will be more effective as the voltage
is up around 13.5/14v.
I can't recall if this is wired through a relay. If not, this could be
a sensible addition.

I haven’t actually checked the circuit diagram for the Berlina 2000 1979, but the circuit for the rear window heater should be the same as that for the cigarette lighter in both the early and late models of the Beta.
How about checking whether there is a 12V supply to the cigarette lighter?
If there is no power, it is likely that the relay is faulty.
