Title: Handbrake warning light
Post by: hongkongphooey on November 17, 2010, 07:27:48 PM
Is it supposed to flash through the indicator relay?

Hi,

Yes it should - although when mine failed I had to use a Delta indicator relay so it no longer flashes!

Up under/ to the right of the the steering column there should be a two pin flasher unit,
small silver/alloy can (just over 1 inch diameter).

This is the handbrake flasher unit (does not normally use the standard indicator or Haz unit)
the unit runs at about 2w , anything greater and there would not be enough draw to flash the lamp.

God,it's so annoying! What with that and the 50 switch positions for the headlamps! ::)

Thanks  :)

Hong Kong

I re-wired mine without the flasher so it just lit the light as it drove me mad as well!

Cheers

I'm glad i'm not the only one it annoys! Might have to by-pass it then....My indicators aren't the best either so hopefully it'll help them too!

by the way, i meant the handbrake warning light not the hazard. You soon get used to not hearing or seeing the warning light flashing.
