Series 2/FL Grill.
« on: February 26, 2013, 08:42:13 PM »
I'm looking into fitting a series 2/FL grill to my 1982 coupe ie. (I think it looks better) I have an old grill and plastic headlight bezels which I was sizing up tonight.  Is there a difference in the bonnet hinges? my hinges are cranked.  Would I need a set of series 2 hinges? which I assume would be flatter.  Also would that be the only issue when trying to fit a series 2 grill to a series 3 front?

Dear Gengis, if you need one I have a series 2F grill that came off a 1985 Volumex. It's in good undamaged condition. PM me if you are interested.
Best,
Chas. ;)

You need headlamp bezels as well as grille, I also believe you do need late style hinges but haven't any experience of this myself

Thanks Chas...I'm getting a NOS grill soon.  But it looks like I'll need series 2 hinges though!

Got the hinges on a bonnet I picked up tonight.  Now that I'm going to fit series 2 grill, I have a small issue... there is no slotted holes in the front panel to accept the bottom of the grill.  Is there anyone out there who can give me a measurement of the distance between the slotted holes and the front panel?  Or a photo would help.

Thanks.
