Aftermarket water temperature gauge
« on: January 17, 2013, 08:27:05 PM »
Just wondering if anyone has plumbed in an aftermarket water temperature gauge, and if so what make and type and where on the dashboard? I'd like to have something that tells me the accurate water temperature, rather than relying on the cheerfully vague standard instrumentation. Would a new sender also be required (for accuracy's sake I'm guessing that sender and gauge have to be calibrated to work together)?

You can get either mechanical with a tube fitting (very accurate and reliable) or electric and you buy the gauge and sender together. I have used Racetech on my Montecarlo because I must know what's going on. I also have oil temp and pressure. I have seen Beta gauges fitted where the radio would go which is neat. I also have a few triple gauge housings knocking around that would go on top of the dash on a Beta S2FL dash.

That sounds about right; water temp, oil temp and oil pressure... Any pictures of said items?
