Oil cooler for Beta 2000 engine (mildly tuned)

Some of the emails that keep popping into my inbox come from a UK company (Rimmer Bros) that specialise in Classic British sports cars. I bought a thermostat element from them 5 years ago and I'm still on their mailing list. Today's email has a 10% off offer on oil coolers and that is something I've been thinking about adding to my 2 litre engine rebuild. This is the link:

Is there anything in here that would be suitable for a 2 litre motor with twin DCOE 45s, 10:1 pistons and flowed/ported head - standard valves and cams? And is there a lot of work involved in plumbing an oil coller into the lubrication circuit?

Hi Graham I admire your optimism with this but suggest you forget this supplier for these purposes.

You need a 235 x 19 row cooler (Setrab from Merlin Motorsport) I would use alloy AN -10 fittings for push on hose from Torques (eBay Shop). I am using their oil take off and remote filter and inline oil stat. The GC book tells you the layout. You mock up the hose runs with old garden hose before cutting the real hose and fitting via putting it in boiling water. This sort of hose and fittings has a 400 PSI fail limit which your Beta will never get close to.

I had a LOT of trouble with a Mocal remote oil block on my Montecarlo before swapping it out so I no longer buy or recommend Mocal kit. You could use Aeroquip or Goodrich hose and fittings but you would just be burning money for no advantage. Always buy hose and fittings from the same supplier/maker. Do not mix and match.
