Thermostats (new old stock?) on eBay

I have just noticed there is a seller on eBay with a number of Beta thermostats. Knowing they are hard to find and expensive if you do, these are £19.99 including postage and the seller looks to have about half a dozen available.

The pictures look to have the 3 outlets in the correct orientation unlike many listed for Betas.

I have always been nervous about getting a blown head gasket ever since it happened on my HPE back in the 80's.
Clive York ended up fixing it for me.
Interestingly Ant on Wheeler Dealers recently also said thermostats should be changed every now and then regardless of problems which got me thinking again.
Anyone got a view on replacing as preventative maintenance?

Seller based in Somerset, with a TA (Taunton?) postcode - looks to be fairly close geographically to Mark W. Only one left now, so the vultures have been circling...

Replacing thermostats could be considered a service item when you consider how old our cars are. They certainly don’t last forever. My personal experience is that they fail in a partially open/closed position which causes slow warm up and running a little warmer than they should when fully warmed up. This is because it’s a ‘bypass’ design rather then a simple open or closed affair. It masks partial failure of itself.

The component I personally consider to be of more trouble is the electric fan switch and it’s relative electrical circuit. Bad connections and faulty switches seem more common a problem and the results are guaranteed overheating with subsequent head gasket damage. 

Also changing the antifreeze along with the thermostat is much overlooked and underrated as it’s also a corrosion inhibitor and that element is crucial with alloy heads and iron blocks.

I have 2 thermostats available following the sale of my VX.
1 is new, 1 was used for a week in my 75 whilst I waited on a replacement. VX is 79 degrees, 75 is 88 degrees.

I'm going to list the spares later when I finish the clear out but have found the following so far, all new & boxed;

2 brake load sensing valves,
3 ignition amplifier modules,
1 clutch cable,
2 track rod ends,
1 set rear brake pads,
2 oil filters,
1 fuel pump,
2 rear brake overhaul kits with pistons.

There's likely to be more but I've not finished clearing out yet.
