Hose Location on 2000ie
« on: November 06, 2012, 12:25:14 PM »
Hi to all,

I'm questionning about the location of the petrol hose in the serie 2 FL coupé .

In the serie 1 this is 2 metal hose from 10mm and 6 mm for return under the car.

But in the 2000 ie is this flexible hose in the inside right under the carpet?

Do you have photos of this implantation?

Thank to all.

In my HPE i.e. the hoses are steel and located as visible in the attached picture. I recon hoses in coupes should be the same, or just differ just in shape.

Is it the hose we see in the bottom of the drivers door?

Is there a return hose on the IE ?

There is two solid fuel lines that run the length of the offside of the car as pictured.

Actually in my car this is a passanger side ;)
The lines are circled in red and are a bit bent off from a strut tower. There are two lines: delivery and return, and run along a sill.

Do the hoses normally run inside the cabin like that?

Appears odd to me to have to come into the cabin at the rear and then exit at the front.

the metal pipes often corrode where they pass through a rubber grommet in the boot floor, my theory is that as the rubber ages it becomes porous and holds moisture against the steel pipe which gradually corrodes through, because of this it is not unusual to find that this arrangement has been altered.

It is much safier inside a car. From the same reason the i.e.'s ecu also is placed inside, comparing to todays cars, having bolted ecus directly to their engines...
