Coupé 2000 double carello
« on: February 05, 2013, 10:08:55 AM »
Hi, My car is equipped with two  carello yellow glass.

As the yellow glass light nothing...(maybe except in the fog..) I look the white Carello....

Unfortunately they are rare and  not at a good price...

But From my 74 Coupé wrecked   I have the blocks of the 74. they are equipped with 4 detached headlights....

I can swap them "easily" in white....( as they are all four in yellow..... ::))

But , I will loss the aesthetic characteristic of the s2 beta coupé 2000  : the two headlight behind the glass

By the past, I 've seen, in australian ebay auction ,protection for the headlight,  in front of two separate headlight...

The results in this photo...

Where can we find this protection???

Hope you'll understand me...

I have european spec lenses for these headlights. Both yellow and white. Let me check if they are Carello or Siem.

Just remove the yellow lenses (cut the seal that holds them) and replace them with the white.

I always wondered why cars from 70/80s in France were equipped with yellow headlamp lenses. Is there any explanation? Personally I like them :)
Thierry, be carefull when looking and buying at ebay. RHD cars (Australia, UK etc.) have different lenses.

Yellow headlight lenses were compulsory in France for many years. In the UK you could buy a sort of marker pen to colour your lights when you visited. It cleaned off with white spirit!

I suspected this, do you maybe know the reason for such an order? Better visibility?

Humm... the visibility is poor , only fog  needs yellow light...

In the story, it seems, in 1936, the car and truck who road in France may have the lens or bulb yellow....
It was a military decision, maybe to distinguish French vehicule....... ::)

This decision was close near 1991.....
