My HPE 2000I.E.
« on: April 23, 2013, 10:38:06 PM »
As I have almost finished my project I would like to share my work fruits with you. It is a 1982 HPE 2000ie imported from Germany nearly 3 years ago. The car has leather interior, Cromodora CD53 magnesium wheels, and electric windows. The car was almost completely stripped down, and resprayed in rosso corsa after minor body repairs (sills, door bottom and quarter lights parts areas). The engine was actually completely rebuilt and filled with semisyntetic Motul classic 15W50. All components from underbonnet and front suspension, subframe etc was sandblasted, zinc plated and powdercoated. Upholstery was refreshed with colourlock products. Now I am faiting with finishing. Still interior, internal and external trim etc. wait for completion. Soon I am going to pass MOT and eventually register my baby  8)

You've missed a bit ;) :)

Looks great - good work.

That seat colour is non standard?  Or was that a factory option?

It took almost 3 years due to few things. First, apart of body and paint works, I did all myself. Second the car I kept at my parents place that is away from my place by over 460km :/ so I was be able to pace the works only from time to time. Paintshop was very busy what delayed the project...I need to bleed the brakes again, finish interior, exterior trims, fit and fill the headlamp aiming lines  8)
I bought the car with this equipment. I think the upholstery is genuine but the steering wheel is aftermarket even it has lancia logo. Anyway in my oppinion it matches the interior perfectly  8)

Dear Lukas,
your HPE looks absolutly lovely, a credit to all your hard work. The clean simple lines of the earlier series cars really show off well.
Is there much left to do?
Best,
Chas and Anne. :)

Hi Lukas,

It's looking great, well done. Have you got any pictures of the interior finished?

I never driven a fuel injected Beta, is their much of a difference over a 2000 carb engine.

Thanks Guys.
I still need to finish external rubbed trims - they will be sticked as the chassis mounting openings are welded, and also the interior is not ready yet i.e. cards, some trims. When I get it sorted I will show it off I promise, I think the interior is one of the cars strongest points :)
I have not driven a carb beta but used to have a supermirafiori 2.0 and must say the injected engine is just fabulous. Sounds the same buts revs smooth and fantastic. A much more civilised.

Just needs a bonnet liner to finish off the engine bay nicely. Looking forward to seeing more pics.

The bonnet liner is waiting for its turn and soon will be ready :)
Yesterday my HPE passed a MOT  8) I took a first longer trip, ca 25km. The only thing I have to sort out shortly is a fuel pump noisiness. It is linked I think with some fuel starving at high revvs. This can be due to an additional fuel filter, blocked fuel lines or a tank. It seems like the pump works with a high resistance :/ Has anyone faced something similar?

Noisy problem already solved. It was the additional filter of reduced flow that caused the noise and starvation. I ordered finally the proper one (WIX for Case tractors suggested here at the forum :) ) and the problem vanished. I also finally registered the car and now can fully delight my beta  8)

Dear Lukas,
The interior looks very good and certainly looks the part, but is it an original material or has it been re upholstered at some stage? Is it Vinyl or leather?
Keep up the good work.
Best,
Chas. :)

It is an original upholstery and genuine lether, however I have refurbished it with colourlock products. It took me a lot of time but was worth it I think  8)

The refurbished bonnet liner looks now not too bad. First I wanted to scrap it as it was almost rubbish.
