Build Date

I wonder if anyone out there can tell me when my Beta Spyder  No. BS1/1  003684 was  built.   It was first registered in Apl. 1978 but I assume they were sold fairly quickly in those days,  not left in fields awaiting sale.

1600 or 2000? there is no build date info pre 78 but I'll have a look

the info suggests most likely sept 78 which cant be right! however the data for 78 on spiders is erratic as it shows 5 months with the same final chassis number so I think it can be concluded that not much can be concluded!! I think you are probably right that it was built not very long prior to registration.

Thanks very much for the info.  You are almost certainly correct as I've only just realised I hit the wrong key and it was registered APRIL 1979.
At least I'm able to blame it on my age.  So I still have 3 years to wait for my  "tax free" so I may well not make it ! ! !

The chassis number sequences on the spiders are seemingly a bit erratic, presumably a product of the fact they were built at zagato and possibly not in sequence, records for other betas are not very good but at least the final chassis number for each month seems to always go up as you would expect!
I hope that one day someone will unearth the records for pre-78 it is a real shame that records are so sparse. It seems there are no records at all of individual cars, unless anyone out there knows any different?
