Filter King Regulator
« on: May 09, 2021, 06:40:11 PM »
I have one of these taking up shelf space so thought I would fit it, as a period modification.

The question is- where should I put it and how to mount it? Polite answers only.

Thanks

Mark

Hi - I put mine as shown in the pic. There were a couple of holes already in the side of the bay, that I picked up on with the angle.
Seems fine. I have an electric fuel pump in the boot, and an inertia cut-off switch - just in case.

Will the Filter King work OK with the manual pump that I imagine is fitted to Mark's car? I've often thought of fitting one, but don't want to go electric.

I used to use them on pushrod Fords in the 80s, with mechanical pumps I would have thought.

Hi Mark,
I took the easy option and fitted it as below but it is used with a Facet Silver Top electric pump at the back.

I have been having repeated difficulties with fuel contamination, and fuel filters are living short but cheerful lives in my Beta.  I shall try a second flush of the tank, but am also getting a Filter King fitted.  I have one in my Leyland Princess and it seems a good device.

Hi Chris

I'm just getting round to fitting my Filter King, which oddly came with no instructions, just a sheet expounding it's many advantages. I can see from your picture that the horizontal take off feeds the carbs, but what is the purpose of the T piece that you have fitted between the filter and carbs?

Also, is the filter set to an optimum pressure out of the box, or did you adjust it at all?

Cheers, Neil

Hi Neil

Pre-empting Chris, but suspect it is fuel return to tank. I guess this means the pump is running all the time, but does keep the fuel recycling which helps prevents vapourisation maybe?

Hi Chris,

Very nice engine bay! What air filtration are you using? Is it one of the Monte Hospital's airboxes? If so, I will need to pick your brains at some point as I'm planning on doing the same. If not, what is it?

Chaps,
Thanks Peter, spot on. T piece is to the fuel return.
Graham, Air box is fibreglass and from a Holbay Hillman Hunter. A mate of mine with a Fulvia tipped me off on that one. Fits very nicely and saved a lot of fabricating.
