Front leg room
« on: February 06, 2024, 04:48:48 PM »
Is there a relatively simple way of increasing the driver leg room on my 1982 beta coupe? Apart from chopping my feet off :)
Cheers, David.

Hi David

It seems a shame to chop your legs down. So it comes down to un bolting the seat runners and fitting metal plates under the runners that allow you to set the runners back in the cabin if you cannot simply mount the seat further back on the runners by using alternative holes. Countersunk 8mm bolts can help you use plates without excessive additional seat height. It has been some years since I re-built all my runners on my VX Recaro seats and I did not personally need to move them further than standard. Maybe someone will step up taller than my 6ft.

Eric
PS consider steering wheel spacing or dishing with this one.

Hi David,
In addition to the thread highlighted by Peter;

I raised/tilted up the front of my seat by adding 2 spacers approx 25mm, using longer modified
allen-head screws. This effectively gives more legroom but puts more seat
under your knees, something I wanted anyway. Depending on how much more leg-room
you need, this may be a first quick option.

In my situation I now need to move the steering wheel aft a bit, probably using a spacer
of sorts.
