Hi all
These shields are quietly trusting away on my Spyder.
Doing a search on the forum I can't find any real reference to these.
I am assuming we can't get these anymore so only source is getting from a breaker or has someone found a solution/source for them?

Many thanks
C

You could try Jim in Farnborough who has about a dozen cars he plans to break to build 2 or 3....

Hi Clifford

These are often a pain to find here in the U.K. in decent condition. They are often missing and the retaining bolts rusted into the hub. Finding a pair in decent condition can be a trial…..

Best of luck

Hi Clifford,

I assume you're referring to the rear axle.
As far as I know, the front axle never had these on UK spec cars.

Having said that, my car, being an AU spec, actually has front shields and I have retained them.
I wonder whether any shields are really necessary on a car that doesn't do much mileage and is
kept off dirt roads.

In short, I wouldn't be too concerned to leave them off.

Hi Clifford,

Just a thought....the rear disc shields on my 1984 coupe would not come off unless I first removed the hub....which will comes at the additional cost of a new bearing.  Some judicious cutting of the shield may enable this to come off.

It could be just my incompetance but I had to remove the shield in order to replace the bushing for the ARB to Hub carrier. I just could not see how to get the shield off without pulling the hub.

Someone please tell me I am wrong ?...if not then replacing the shields could be a job you wish you had never started (Rear hub beraring replacement can be a trial also)

Cheers,

Steve
