Afternoon all, two separate questions relating to a 1979 spider

Front headlight is dual "filament" H4, although only the dipped beam has a wire going to it. I know the inner lights are for main beam, but does anyone have the outer main beams connected?

Looking at a rear light issue and trustworthy Haines shows just one loom entering boot on the drivers side. I seem to have a loom each side. Does that sound right?

Front outer lights should be main beam and dipped beam so two power wires and one earth. Inners are long range AFAIK so single wire to bulb and an earth.

The Coupe I'm restoring had a cable run on top of each sill, up into the rear inner arches and over the strut tower, down into the boot to each sides light cluster. Without pulling the loom out of storage I think the feeds to the number plate lights came from just one side and the fog light feed also down only one side.

What Guy says is like mine.
The rear fog and plate lights are fed from the right hand loom,
everything else is sided.

On my headlights, originally only the dipped was wired, but I'm now thinking
I can change that. But first I need better lamps. The Lucas lenses I bought are rubbish.

Thanks chaps. Just as a fyi I'm changing the H4s to led, as I'd like to improve illumination but retain original reflectors...

Good to hear rear lighting looks are not a "feature" unique to my car.

Bottom right is 145 and that's easily located in the boot. 139 is the connector mentioned here and is above the wheel arch. Following the cables back I get to top right and connector 63. This is described as "Seven-outlet junction block (black)" and I can see a mirror image on the other side of the car.

As it's round I don't believe it's located on the fuse box or instrument cluster. Any pointers to where on the car it is?

Hi John that connector is in the area of the front footwell speaker/ storage bin panel. If you look above the panel at the lower edge of the dashboard you will find it.

As far as I know, the schemes for the Beta and Gamma headlights are similar. H1s were used for the outer lights on the early models. I think that H4s have been used since the manufacturer improved them.
However, the schematics for both early and late models only show the circuit for H1.
I would guess that the headlights were changed from H1 to H4, but the wiring was not changed.
I have modified my Gamma with a relay so that the H4's are switched on upper beam.
