My Beta restoration
« on: February 23, 2026, 01:28:32 PM »
Hi folks, my Beta restoration has started so I thought I'd put some videos on YouTube if anyone is interested.
The channel is called Full Metal Classic you'll have to excuse me as im not the most natural in front of a camera but I thought it'd be a bit of fun and someone might be interested in it.

Hi Carl

Welcome and enjoyed the video, pretty good if that was a first go.

Best of luck with the work!

Brilliant video, wd.  My friends keep saying I should video my work, but frankly I cant think about adding my work to my kids, dog, house, and my car and van.

Fantastic first video Carl - you have yourself another subscriber. I'm looking foward to your restoration progress - obviously a lot here, but it all looks realistically do-able. So pleased to see we now seem to be living in a golden age of Beta restorations!

You can get absolutely anything you need to restore this car but you need to be prepared to search globally...the thrill is in the chase.

I'm hooked already....

and depends how original you want it.  I am thinking track car interior until you find the right interior.  I do love that original colour, its one of my fav Beta colours.  Cant wait for the next video.

I know this is probably wrong but I would love the steam clean that car :-)

Hi Carl

On the interior, the early brown parts are often hard to find. You can change it to the later black or mix and match and paint the existing brown plastic to black etc. Track car is probably easier job, but then limited to where etc you would use it unless you are dedicated track day guy.

So far whats the good you have found and the not so good/scary?

Do you have plans for the interior and engine yet?

Watching you shows what can be done at home, nothing should scare anyone :-)

I'm learning a lot from your metal shaping Carl, and especially with
the basic tools you're using.
I've got to tackle my doors this year, the front top and bottom ends
are bad, some tricky round forms to make!

Mark, I think the good is that all the suspension turrets and sills are good. The only bit that's got me thinking is the windscreen surround/scuttle, I'll be buying a shrinker stretcher and making a power hammer for that part. Not sure about interior yet, I'll have to see what comes available but I do have all the panels and a carpet, its just rear seats I need. As for the engine I'll pull it out and strip it to see if it can be saved. Thans for the views
