The Beta is a great choice for a classic. Not too expensive, great fun to drive, a 1970s style car that drives like something from the 90s and mechanically at least easy to fix if is does go wrong. Lots of scope for tweaking too if that's your thing.
Sounds like you've got one that can be a good rolling restoration. Fuel leak and cambelt are the only absolute essentials to do before you put some miles on it. You may need a new bush set for the gear linkage - Mark at Lancia Beta Parts usuall has them. Although it's possible the website is down at the moment.
