Carb rebuild - what gaskets do I need?
« on: August 09, 2025, 12:44:57 AM »
My carb isn’t opening the second choke.  I will investigate but was thinking I might end up wiping the carb off and doing a clean and rebuild.

I will get the carb details next week when home and see if I can get it to work before striping as it seems to run okay.  Any recommendations on rebuild sets plus base gaskets, and where to buy?

I have an ultrasonic cleaner and carb clean solution

Hi

The only thing not in that kit looks to be the floating which may/may not need replacing

Mark, just a note on that choke not opening....

I found that excess carpet behind the pedal can cause less travel.
Also make sure the cable has as little slack as practical at the carb end, and
check the actuator between each choke shaft, i.e. a manual finger check.

Ha!  Love the carpet comment.  I was always assuming either a badly adjusted cable or linkage.  I will disconnect and work my way back.

Thank you Nigel

‘Twas the cable.  It was adjusted really badly.  It’s almost fully opening both chokes now but I am running out of adjustment.  I will look again maybe tonight.  Maybe it’s the wrong cable?
