Aux shaft and crank oil seals
« on: April 17, 2023, 03:05:33 PM »
Afternoon all, I'm fairly sure my aux shaft or the seal behind the pulley wheel has a leak. Haynes shows enough detail for me to take the job on, but their starting point is engine out of car. Has anyone tackled these whilst the engine is till fitted?

Should be OK to do through the wheelarch. It's possible you may have to drop or raise the engine slightly to wiggle the central bolt out.

Thanks for that. Helps me decide if it's a 1 day DIY job or a "lets get the engine overhauled whilst it's out" job

Hi John

I had a nightmare of a job getting the bolt loose on the first engine I tried. The second with the help of a decent rattle gun it came out easily.
