smooth black underseal type spray?

So on my Beta, below the door, sills level, and all the way around its has been painted with a hideous always wet stuff that can only be described as wet tar with mixed in sand. 

I can see that this age of Beta should have this area black, so was on the look out for a smooth drying substance.  I was thinking in the Spring I will take some petrol to it and I think it will remove really easy.  I will undercoat with maybe BH Electrox or similar.  Any thoughts of something I could look at to get the finish I need?

I had not realised the later cars had black under the doors, guess to match in with the black of the stainless around the screen and doors etc. There should be a line of a rough chip protect layer under the black colour. John my body guy used Gravitex from memory on the HPE (and probably on the Spider).

HB Body 950 gives the correct texture and handilly comes on aerosols too.
