How tight? (Strut inserts into struts)
« on: December 03, 2025, 10:35:34 AM »
Any thoughts on how tight I should do the top nuts on my converted struts?  I will also wire lock.

Mark,
I lube the thread with a very small amount of
anything slippery, and tighten until it's, well, tight.
Perhaps do it by hand until you have contact with the insert
and then another quarter turn? It may not even go that far.
You are wire locking anyway, and it can be tightened and relocked
in situ.

When I did mine recently it was pretty obvious that they were locked in place with a gentle tap to the top of the tube once the cap was fully screwed down. That's enough to stop them undoing.
