Hopefully Alex, you can now delete
the word 'provisional'!

Alex,

I'll try to make a point of comming along this year.  I know it's ealy days but the best hotel prices are often 6 months in advance - any thoughts on venues ?

Hi Stuart,

I am popping down to my local hotel this weekend to see if I can get a discount on a multi room booking - (Hopefully there will be no weddings on that weekend!). All being well, it'll be at the Peacock (the same place as last time I hosted Betameeta) - Theo did a fastastic job of wangling some discount on rooms if I remember rightly, but since then the hotel has changed hands (sadly Martin the previous owner passed away) so I will be making some early negotiations there and looking into other options too. The hotel also has a couple of self-catering places on site which could also be an option.

Thanks for the link Theo -some wonderful memories of 'Betameeta 2021. This was my first attempt at organising Betameeta and pre-dates me even owning a Beta! I just hoped that one would magically come along and be for sale!

For context we were based around the Peacock Hotel in my home village of Henton, Oxfordshire and visited the Chiltern Open Air Museum and a drive out into the Cotswolds follwowed by a visit to the Oxford Bus Museum.

This year I am looking at a number of options for the weekend to give a bit of a different flavour to 2021. It may be that with greater numbers anticipated that we have to spread ourselves across additional local hotels.

I really hope we can all be in one hotel.
Kinda adds to the vibe and fellowship.

Keep up the good work Alex!

Any news on the possible mass booking discount, or do you suggest we just crack on?

Hi all,

I have just been down to the Peacock Hotel, Henton to chat with Emma the new owner about Betameeta26! She has about 22 of the 24 rooms available so more than enough for our purposes and plenty of food and dining options including BBQ option to (dependent on numbers).

The magic number of reservations to unlock the discount is 10 rooms so please head to https://www.peacockcountryinn.co.uk/ or contact them directly on 01844 353519 to make a reservation quoting "Lancia Beta Forum" and my name if needed. Friday 25th - Sunday 27th September, so Emma knows it is part of our group booking. As it is only a reservation at the moment, they won't ask for any money until confirmations are made.

For those of you that didn't come to Betameeta21, the Peacock is a small independent country hotel which offers comfortable surroundings and great food at a relatively competitive price. My early thoughts  on an itinerary is we will be in the hotel for an evening meal on Friday evening and have a day and evening meal out on Saturday, followed by another drive out on Sunday and lunch before dispersing.

Please drop me a PM either on here or on Facebook to let me know that you are coming. I will be writing a bigger post for the LMC and Lancia Beta socials in due course.

n.b Tony and Chris - they still don't have any gatecrashable wedding receptions in the calendar yet!

Any questions, comments, queries or concerns please do not hesitate to contact me directly.

Looking forward to making yet another memorable Betameeta weekend!  :)

Many thanks
