Apparently Replying To Speed Awareness is that Amphetamine is not the right response! A Speed limit is not a target repeat until you groan is ahead if you go for that option which I did some years ago. I think it unlikely you were a danger to anyone, but it is far easier to catch people drifting over the limit on wide pen motorways like the M40. We feel your pain.

Good result , just don't argue with them.

In particular if they show the stopping distances video don't cite the figures from a 1976 Motor road test of a Capri showing that even then they were wrong... ;)

(FWIW the thinking distance given in the highway code is almost certainly too short while the stopping distance is comically long so at lower speed the actual stopping distance is likely longer while at 50 and above its shorter)

Bugger.

Speeding ticket dropped through the letter box today. Fortunately not from a section of the road we convoyed on. M40 on the way home. That'll teach me to use cruise control more....

Ahhh nuts! If it's any consolation Guy - I got done on the way down to track day. I thankfully took the speed awareness course option instead of points. I was quite impressed with the quality of the photos of my Berlina speeding through Sussex!  ;D ;D  ;D

you should be banned from any other engine size, 1300 is fast enough for you :-)

You do know that the 1300 is capable of 100mph Mark? I even had a Fiat 126 over 80 mph once - downhill, trailing wind etc. Scary.

I usually have cruise control on to avoid these things.... Not that day. Hey ho.

Thanks Chris and Peter it's always a nice feeling to see your articles in VL and to see people enjoying them  :)

The article has stretched far and wide as I sent file of the article to my Uncle who's a massive petrolhead, but sadly just gone into palliative care in Canada and really enjoys reading material relating to old cars and bikes. - He contacted me a couple of weeks ago to share an article he's collaborated on about the 1949 Vincent Rapide motorbike he owned in the 1960's surfacing again coming up for sale. Youtube link here for anyone interested in seeing his actual bike - even though he is very unwell, he still would have loved to have bought his old bike back and had it shipped it out to Canada, but due to some rotten timing, he only rediscovered it a couple of weeks after it had sold.
