Sandro Munari

Very sad to hear the news that rally legend Sandro Munari passed away today. He was 85 years and had been ill for some time. One of my childhood heroes - a 4-time winner of the Monte Carlo rally in the Fulvia and Stratos, he was a fast and flamboyant driver. A poignant day for Lancia fans.

I didnt recognise the name.  Amazing career.  What a life these people had.  I feel quite boring in comparison.

And a lovely bloke too. I had the luck to meet him on two occasions and chat to him briefly, once at Goodwood and once at a Stratos World Meet in Biella, sadly after dementia had started. A legend.
