Sunroof Control Bar Fixing
« on: May 03, 2026, 12:08:32 PM »
Hi Chaps,

I've removed my coupe's sunroof because it wasn't rising properly at the rear when locked.  I bought a precautionary set of Betaboyz replacement bushes (which I don't think I need) but the one I've found broken is at the end of the control bar that manages the lock.  This looks like a tricky piece to change and I'm just wondering if an Araldite repair might take the loads.  Any thoughts or advice please?

This clip takes a longitudinal force and there seemed to be a dent amount of flat metalwork to support Araldite on the joint.  I'll give this a few hours to harden and fingers crossed it'll work; otherwise, I think Mark might have a spare mechanism.

All fixed now. Araldite repair to the fixing on the end of the control bar seems to have done the trick.
It is quite fiddly to get the roof reconnected to the guide plates, but the whole task was simplified enormously thanks to Hutch’s ‘how to’ story board on the ‘Articles’ tab.

Glad you sorted it Chris. Fiddly work like this can be frustrating and you can't drive round all summer with an unsealed sunroof...
