New member - 23 years old with a Lancia Beta 2000 from 1980

Something about myself. Really into cars and especially rally's. A dream is to drive the Roger Albert Clark rally in 5 to 10 years but do some navigational rallies/ map reading tours now for fun. Bought the Lancia as a project car to hopefully make it a rally car one day. Anybody tips?

For now just fixing leaks, trying to install a new Nardi steering wheel, new front shift rod, maybe a new stickshifter, some other repairs and am looking to redo the interior. From there on the Rallycar build can start. Anybody experience?

Kevin's original car had coilover Billy's on all the corners, 1300 gearbox and a hot cam and big exhaust.  I have this sort of similar dream one day on my Coupe.  I would want a riveted on big arch look.  I will watch your progress, good luck

Hi Oliver, welcome to the Beta forum and congrats on your new Beta. Youve dropped the average age of Beta owners by a significant amount!. I was the onwer of the Al Italia replica and as Mark mentioned i do regret selling it. I bought it originally with the idea of doing some of the historic rallies but various things got in the way. I always thought it should be used as a rally car and was wasted driving on the road so when Hero came along and wanted to add it to their fleet it made sense to let it go. We bought it after it had already competed in quite a few rallies on the continent so it was well prepared. It was so good we didnt really change anything. It had adjustable coilover suspension, fully adjustable rear arms and ran with a lot of negative camber at the rear which looked and felt good!. Engine wasnt tuned too much but enough power to make it quite fast. Mild high lift cams and a lovely 4-2-1 exhaust manifold helped. The seats were lovely and it had a fabulous Luisi wheel. Fully stripped interior so quite noisy....  The Beta rally cars used the 1.3 gearbox and diff with very low and close ratios which was all part of the fun of driving the car.  Here is a link to the spec  and pictures of the car when we bought it from Fulvia classics:  https://fulviaclassics.com/2020/05/01/lancia-beta-targa-florio-1975-car-replica-2/   If i was doing the same thing again the only change i would make is to use a higher ratio 2l gearbox just to make the car more road useable.
