Protection for fuse box
« on: Today at 03:50:00 AM »
I noticed on the parts diagrams for the later series Lancia Beta that there is a heat shield / deflector shown.

I have never seen one like this on any engine and was wondering if this is in fact a factory part or a suggested upgrade ?
There is already a factory standard heat shroud over the exhaust manifold which serves to duct warm air to the air box but this is not really enough to protect the fuse box and relays which are directly above, especially if the "stove pipe" duct has been removed.

I have reinstated the ducting connection in a bid to help stop the hot air from the factory shield from being funnelled up diectly to the fuse box. I may go one step further and make an additional heat shield as per the one shown.

Has anyone seen or made a heat shield like the one shown in the diagram below ?

I have seen recently that one member wrapped his exhaust manifold with asbestos type cloth to achieve the same protective effect.

Cheers,

Steve

Wow over 18 or more Betas I have had hands going back many years on I have never seen that shield on a car or in bits removed from a car. What a good idea that would have been! I am expecting to make heat shield for the steering rack boots and the fuse box. I have a NOS Fuse box fitted to a fully re-built loom so keen to not ruin it.
