i am confused about my sump plug, if i screw it in all the way in just falls through the hole in to the bottom of the sump, i shall not be doing that again as it took me 3 hours and very sore fingers to get the bloody sump off (thanks to hf stuart for advice), and i still get get the anti rollbar back on.
the threads in the sump are fine and the ones on the plug look ok, i guess some thing is bent in the sump as i am sure the plug used to tighten up. i did not use any thread tape. but i am not sure if it would help. if i use a bolt type plug that would work but i don't know what size the thread is. any one else had this problem?
on the plus side i got all the brake calipers off in about 20 minutes and the brakes are much better than i thought, all 4 discs are ok and even the rubber hoses seems absolutely fine, i just am just going to put new seals in the calipers (a couple seemed to be leaking a bit) and fit new pads. the suspension looks ok as well with no leaks and all the bushes seem fine.
more good news...the old guy who had the car before me (he had it for 28 years) found all the paper work, i now have the original service book (all stamped by local lancia dealer),owners manual and even the 6 year anti corrosion booklet.
