Water Pump Query
« on: March 13, 2012, 06:56:41 PM »
I'm changing the water pump on my IE, everything has gone very smoothly so far with much better access to it than I first thought. I've got the new pump (which is the right one :o) it comes with the gasket to fit pump to block but there's no gasket for pump to lower water rail.
I was going to use some instant gasket silicone sealant, is this the norm? or should it come with a gasket of some type?

It's an O Ring and didn't come with my last pump either. Don't think sealant will be ideal. It's a common size and comes in a lot of DIY plumbing waste kits.

It's an O Ring seal. It might even be a square section one but I'm not sure. You'll be able to get one to do the job from fleabay or any bearing factor.
