Nice one Theo. So are we concluding that it was the pick-up in the distributor that was faulty then?

Yes, definitely the pick-up in the distributor Neil. I’m surprised that it was an intermittent fault but there must be break in the coil wire which would make contact when cold but go open-circuit once it got some heat from the engine.
