Hello all!
« on: June 17, 2016, 05:53:28 PM »
Hello to everyone, hope you are all well?

I am looking at getting a Beta as an alternative to my current RX8 track car and using it for track days, sprints and possibly rallies.

I have always had a thing for Italian cars and owned various models in past. Strata 130tc, 105tc, X1/9's X4 etc

I saw this on eBay and as it is fairy local thought I would have look.

Does anybody know anything about its history or any other info?

Thanks

Hi

Welcome to the forum.

No personal knowledge on this car. I would look carefully at the engine spec especially in relation to the oil pickup. The Beta engine has a history of surge into corners requiring a decent baffled sump for anything other than normal road use.

Hi Peter
Thanks for the advice on the sump.
I will check it out if I do buy it I could get a modded baffled sump to be on safe side.
Thank you

I know there's a scoop on the bonnet but an air filter right above the exhaust manifold - really? I think I might be tempted to put the missing nut back on the strut top mount too.

Seriously if the body is sound it'll make a really good basis but I agree that unless they can make guarantees about the engine mods (or it's dry sumped I suppose) you'll probably want to pull the engine out to inspect. Guy Croft does a good baffled sump and his name on receipts is also a sign the builder didn't skimp on it.

NB It's a pain to do but the std sump can be removed in situ  - the baffled one cannot.

Totally agree about the air filter. Definitely needs redirecting to pick up air from the front of the bay.
Good spot on the missing nut!

Will check the spec out in detail!

Thanks for reply.
