As far as I remember I used a very thin and flexible paint scraper with a sharpened end.
It was definitely easy
as there was no damage to either paint nor trim.
As Peter said, do it from the glass side.
I had tried sealing it in-situ but that didn't work.
Once it's off, remove all the old sealant from the trim. It comes out fairly easily.
I used CT1, and plenty of it, to refit. I propped the tailgate flat, then used towels and bricks to apply
pressure overnight. There's a pic on page 7 of my recommission thread in the members section.
