Wheel Geometry Set Up
« on: September 23, 2009, 08:10:12 PM »
Does anyone know anywhere that would be able to check and set up the front and rear wheel geometry? I asked the people when I got some new front tyres and they said they couldn't do it. The only ones they could do involved turning a 19mm bolt!

I appreciate it will be worth my while freeing up the various bolts and adjuster threads.

Thanks
Owned my 1984 ie Coupe since 1989, being used daily for the station run!

look up Super Tracker in local yellow pages.
they do four wheel tracking etc.

(clean up rear adjusters - wire brush threads etc.)

you need to find a tyre depot with a 4 wheel laser alignment set up many only have equipment to do the front tracking be prepared to shell out about £40-ish to have it done but if the set up is out it can transform the car

the type of equipment they should have is like on these websites http://www.bushtyres.co.uk/suspension.htm http://www.alignmycar.co.uk/

Most places like National tyres, larger Kwik-Fits etc etc can do this but check they have the laser geometry equipement first.  I used Super Tracker last time (in Southampton, the guys who actually make and calibrate the equipment) they were brilliant and they completely transformed my cars handling.  (Not my Beta my daily driver)  Cost me £55 and worth every penny without a doubt.
