Sound proofing the interior

Morning all, one job I am lining up for later in the year is sound deadening the cabin. Carpets are all in good condition and removal / refitting is within my ability but how to sound proof would be new to me. I've used stuff like Dynamat in the past for fitting speakers but not sure that's the right approach for the entire car.

So, any advice on what materials I should be looking at?

Hi,

I have just done this myself.
I cleared off all the original soundproofing as it was crumbling.
Then used a combination of Dodo mat sound deadening https://www.dodomat.com/products/dodo-dead-mat-hex-50-sheets
And Dodo Foam Super liner. https://www.dodomat.com/products/dodo-super-liner-12mm-sheets

Really easy to apply and mold around difficult shapes all self adhesive which is nice.

I cant say how much difference its made as the car isn't complete!

This is a job I hate as it is like an endless 5 year old's craft class. I used some Dodo mat on the Monte over the exhaust box, but did find it surprisingly heavy compared to dynamat. I found Fat Mat hard work to fit as it is thick and stiff a heat gun is needed really.

The OE bitumen and water holding felt is a disaster but keep the soggy rotting mess as patterns for the closed cell foam replacements. If you can copy the original felt it will be far quicker to do.

Lancia went for a minimal approach with the bitumen and I have gone over the top. But focus on floors wheel arches engine bulkhead. If metal rings or rattles to a light tap it will transmit and in some cases amplify noise.
