Thanks Peter, with a couple of feet of cable attached?

Don't post anything just yet, if the electricians have found the connector I will just use the plugs off my loom.

Thanks!

Hi

No cable, just bare connectors.

I enquired some time ago on the manufacturer and they had no idea what they were etc, so no hope of getting new connectors. The housing are however quite robust and I have managed to remove the wires from the connectors.

Here's a list of all the connectors and part numbers for the late series cars, I'm not sure if they are interesting or ofc any use

Thanks, if I can find the right terminals to fit these connectors then job done but I don't think I'm the first to look for them. Hence the possible need for a spare set of connectors with terminals and a couple of feet of loom attached.

That is the reason I removed the wires from the terminals so I can use new wire right up to them and not rely on 50 year old crimps.

Do you have a source for the terminals Peter? That's the best solution for the new loom for me!

Hi Guy

As mentioned even the manufacturer did not know of these connectors when I enquired, so no idea where you would get any. I am simply recovering the originals and taking the wire off them to allow me to reuse with new wire.

Hi Guy

Thanks.

Just checked what I have and for the facelift it appears there are two 8 pin and one 6 pin connector. These are what I have presumably from the IE. The pre facelift just has 3 x 6 pin connectors.

Can I have those Peter? They match my gauges and I may be able to unroll tge terminals and re-use them. Loom people haven’t managed to find the original AMP ones yet. They’ve got all my money now so little incentive to find them!

Hi

Of course, I have two sets for my pre facelift. If you need spare terminals, I also have few in case some are unusable, but I found that they will separate from the wires fairly easily.

Thanks Peter! Spares appreciated! If anyone needs a complete loom for a Coupe I have one that needs a little cleaning but I think it's all there and not messed with.

I won't throw it away though.

Well, here it is, hard to believe that this little box contains probably 90% of the wiring loom, the ECU (BodyLogic), a couple of remotes, the alarm siren, dongles and a few other items...

I'm short of an alternator lead plus two heavy cables for the AirCon compressor that I need to determine the length, diameter and colours for. There will also be a sub harness for windows and heater box linear motors plus whatever is needed for the instrument cluster.

I've invested in a boatload of cable ties, some split corrugated conduit and a boxful of Deutch waterproof connectors including the correct tools to crimp, assemble and disassemble them.

Looking forward to getting stuck into all this soon!

It was on 96k when I got it, stripped, cleaned and wound forward over a couple of hours infront of the telly. There’s no MOT history on this car to say it’s wrong….😑

Given the current state, MOT history would be pretty meaningless.....

In reality a completely different car

Interesting idea for the HPE which will be in a similar position

Well that was a fun day. Should have been a simple one, just fitting grommets to the front bulkhead. But it was a pain. The oval heater one popped in easily. The oval one on the left side also popped in very easily. The oval one above them the pedal box.. needed surgery so I can pass a Dash 10 air con hose through it. It also needed the pedal box removing as it's trapped behind it. Only 5 nuts for that one easy. Heater drain. Doddle. But oh my god - what's the trick with the steering rack grommet? There must be one. In the end I used a little grease on the nose of the rack to ease it through the grommet without pushing it out of place. But that took three hours this afternoon in the heat of the garage. Just the speedo one and a couple of circular ones to find/fit tomorrow that will be easy. Whilst the column is out I'm going to swap the ignition lock out for the new one I got recently from Mark. That can stay out until the last of the soundproofing goes on over the weekend (beer/hangovers permitting).

Reply from the loom guys, they'd forgotten to put a crash switch in the box for along with a bag of resistors and diodes plus a couple of terminals, nuts and screws..
