Morning, can anyone recommend a spring compressor set they like, or hate?

Try to have a set with 3 minimum of them and do them up gradually in sequence

I bought a hydraulic one off eBay. Don't like it, too much play in the (generic) seating that allows a little movement. And that can be catastrophic if it lets go and you haven't got the restraining chain on properly.

Don't be tempted to "protect" the paint on the springs when using clamp types either, and try to tighten evenly and also undo evenly. I had one slip round the spring which ended in a little blood being spilt once... As with any stored energy exercise extreme caution!

Just found a Laser set of three that look the same, and have been used once.  Excellent thank you

I found with Beta Springs even 2 clamps proved difficult to locate on the spring without fouling either the top pad or the bottom pad so it would be wise to experiment where to position them. I like the idea of the clamps as mine do not have these so slide around at first opportunity....

when doing my VW Transporter struts with a borrowed basic pair of clamps, I assumed at any point it would bite me :-)

I bought a cheap Chinese one off eBay, approx £25 and works pretty well. Two sturdy units with a link between them which helps to keep everything in line and limited distortion of the springs. Shipped from in the UK and arrived in a couple of days. Really astonishingly good for a tool costing peanuts
