front wheel bearing inner race removal
« on: March 08, 2026, 02:27:13 PM »
Any tips on how to pull the inner race off the hub.

I have pushed out the hub from the bearing in the upright and as per Haynes manual am left with the old inner race on the hub which need to be removed.

Thanks

Dress away with a grinder carefully until It cracks with a sharp metal chisel tap from your punch set. I have never managed to get any of the bearing pullers to get behind it unfortunately.

Hi

I would second what Eric says, but I remember Guy mentioned a clamp type remover which moves the race away from the face of the hub enough to get a puller on to it.

Something like this can bite into the race and start lifting it off the hub.

Other suppliers available.

Thanks, I have that tool (a larger set off pullers includes it) but it cannot bite - I tried. It also cannot get behind the race as Eric says, BUT I might cut 2 slots in the race with an angle grinder and use my bench press with it.. More to follow....
