flow and return pipe

So numpty question here. I am replacing the fuel pipes on my IE HPE i took a pic of the pipes above the fuel filter of which one is the feed and the other is the return to the tank. However I didnt check the image and now discovered its blurred. So my next solution is to go to the engine and and remove either the feed or return pipe and blow down it and see which is which. The issue is I am unsure which is flow and which is return on the fuel rail. I have one pipe that feeds direct into the fuel rail at the front of the engine and another which looks to connect to some sort of mechanical valve at the rear of the engine.  Both pipes are same size and so was the fuel pipe that was removed

The fuel filter will be in the send line, unless you removed that too?

I think Steve might need to know which is the pick up pipe on the tank itself? I would expect it to be bigger than the return one though.

Yes I know fuel filter is flow. The problem is I removed both small pipes Ie the one from the filter and the one to the tank and like a twat didnt make a note properly of which was which.

Lesson learnt the hard away again.

No  Guy The pump pick up pipe is bigger, thats all sorted and replaced What I am struggling with is the two pipes that run through the car from the fuel filter to the fuel rail. One is obviously a feed and the other I assume is a return. I just dont know which is which. I can work it out if I knew which end of the fuel rail was the feed and which is return as I can disconnect them and blow air down to see which is which.

My other option it the basic one of connect it up and if it runs assume its right and if it doesnt swap the pipes round.

Not sure how a non return valve reacts with reverse flow? It probably doesn't. I'd disconnect the engine end, pipes into catch cans and see which one fills when you turn the ignition on?

That was of concern to me hence why I am keen to find out which end of the fuel rail is the feed. my assumption is its this one attached and the other seem to go into the bottom of the other thing opposite end
